Email mailboxes — setup, DNS, and mail apps

This guide explains how to create email mailboxes on your SRV-CORE hosting plan, what happens automatically, and the one DNS step required before you can send email from your domain.

Receiving vs sending — important

Receiving mail usually works as soon as your mailbox exists and your domain's MX records point to SRV-CORE.

Sending mail from @yourdomain.com requires additional DNS records (SendGrid authentication). You will receive an automatic email with the exact records when you create your first mailbox on the domain.

1. Create a mailbox in Plesk

  1. Sign in to your client area, open your hosting service, and click Login to Panel.
  2. Go to MailCreate Email Address.
  3. Choose an address (e.g. you@yourdomain.com) and a strong password.
  4. Save.

When you create the first mailbox on a domain, SRV-CORE registers outbound email authentication and sends you an email titled "DNS correo requerido para yourdomain.com" with the CNAME records you must add. A support ticket may also be opened in your client area with the same instructions.

2. Add DNS records for outbound email

Use the exact CNAME values from your activation email. They are unique to your domain — do not copy values from another domain.

Record type What to do
CNAME Add all CNAME records shown in your activation email (typically three _domainkey entries).
SPF (TXT) If you already have an SPF record, edit it to add include:sendgrid.net. Do not create a second SPF record.
Example: v=spf1 +a +mx include:sendgrid.net -all

Where do I add these records?

Your setup Add records here
Nameservers are ns1.srv-core.com and ns2.srv-core.com Plesk → your domain → DNS Settings
DNS managed at Cloudflare, Namecheap, GoDaddy, etc. Your registrar or DNS provider's DNS panel
Custom nameservers (e.g. ns1.yourdomain.com) but zone hosted in Plesk PleskDNS Settings (registrar only holds NS glue records)

If you use Cloudflare, set SendGrid CNAME records to DNS only (grey cloud), not proxied.

3. Wait for verification

  • DNS propagation typically takes 15 minutes to 48 hours.
  • SRV-CORE checks verification automatically every few hours.
  • You may receive reminders on day 3 and day 7 if records are still pending.

Once verified, you can send mail from webmail and from Outlook, Apple Mail, or your phone without any further steps.

4. Access your email

Webmail: https://webmail.yourdomain.com (or open Webmail from Plesk → Mail)

IMAP (incoming): mail.yourdomain.com · port 993 · SSL/TLS

SMTP (outgoing): mail.yourdomain.com · port 587 · STARTTLS · authentication required

Username: your full email address (e.g. you@yourdomain.com)

Do not use port 25 for sending from mail apps. SRV-CORE uses authenticated submission on port 587.

Frequently asked questions

I created a mailbox but cannot send email

Outbound email requires SendGrid DNS records. Check your inbox (and spam) for the activation email, add all CNAME records, and update SPF. Allow up to 48 hours after publishing DNS.

I am not receiving email from Gmail or other providers

Confirm your domain's MX record points to mail.yourdomain.com (priority 10), that nameservers resolve to SRV-CORE, and check the Spam folder in webmail.

I did not receive the DNS activation email

Check spam. If it is missing, open a support ticket and we will resend your domain's records.

How many mailboxes can I create?

The number included depends on your plan. See your service details in the client area or your hosting welcome email.

I deleted all mailboxes — what happens?

If no mailboxes remain on the domain for 30 days, outbound authentication may be removed automatically. Creating a new mailbox before that period ends restores the service.
